Pegues was a native of Mississippi. He came to Texas in 1895 and moved to Crystal City in 1910 where he established his mercantile business.
Pegues is survived by his widow; five daughter, Mrs. A. L. Christian of Abilene, Mrs. W. C. Houston of Stanton, Mrs. a. M. Gerand of San Antonio, Mrs. Howard Bidelspacher of Crystal City, and Miss Virginia Pegues of Belton, and three sons, Scott Pegues of Crystal City, C. M. Pegues of Georgetown, Kyl, and Claud Pegues of Crystal City.
