       Leonard Pegues came down from Hamlin a week ago suffering with a heavy cold and was confined to his bec and room until yesterday when he came down in town to attend to some business, and this morning left for Hamlin.

• The following appeared on 28 May 1928 in The San Antonio Light: Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at Crystal City for E. C. Pegues, 70, one of the leading merchants of that city, who died here Sunday. Following services the body will be sent to Mississippi for burial.
       
  Pegues was a native of Mississippi. He came to Texas in 1895 and moved to Crystal City in 1910 where he established his mercantile business.
       Pegues is survived by his widow; five daughter, Mrs. A. L. Christian of Abilene, Mrs. W. C. Houston of Stanton, Mrs. a. M. Gerand of San Antonio, Mrs. Howard Bidelspacher of Crystal City, and Miss Virginia Pegues of Belton, and three sons, Scott Pegues of Crystal City, C. M. Pegues of Georgetown, Kyl, and Claud Pegues of Crystal City.
