- The following appeared on 3 April 1941 in the Port Arthur News: Funeral services were held for Robert L. Thompson, 77, of Washington, retired agent of the Southern Pacific lines in that community, who died at his home. Rev. E. C. Duresne, pastor of the Opelousas Methodist church, conducted the services at the family residence and burial was in the Myrtle Grove cemetery here under the direction of Lafond and Son. Surviving Mr. Thompson are one daughter, Mrs. L. J. Muller, Washington; four sons, Z. A. Thompson, Washington, Henry Thompson, Iota, Frank Thompson, Algiers, and George Thompson, New Orleans, and one brother, Wilson Thompson of Nashville, Tenn.
