• He married Margaret Will Wooddy, daughter of Samuel Rockingham Wooddy Jr. and Sara Elizabeth Antonia Massey, on 4 December 1906 in Chambers County, Alabama.
• Alexander Torbert became a widower at the 11 July 1909 death of his wife Margaret Will Wooddy.

       Mr. Torbert has been Justice of the Peace in Old Spring Hill beat, and recently resigned to accept his new position. Sheriff M. E. Pritchett came to Demopolis from Linden this week to check over the accounts of Mr. Phares and to transfer the office to Mr. Torbert.
• He married Annie Hunt, daughter of John W. Hunt and Sarah Frances Cotton, on 28 December 1911.
