  • The following appeared on 12 August 1921 in the Batavia Daily News: Anthony Geise, for 63 years a farmer near Attica and Varysburg, died at 12:20 o'clock today from a cerebral hemorrhage, which he suffered on Tuesday.
         Mr. Geise was born in Germany on September 2, 1846, and came to America 65 years ago, locating in Attica. Forty years ago he married Miss Catherine Sierk, who survives him, with four sons, William G., Henry, George and Leo Geise, all of Attica and vicinity; three daughters, Mrs. George Geitner, Mrs. Samual Bey and Miss Catherine Geise, all of Attica; two brothers, Philip Geise of Varysburg and Gregory Geise of Bennington; a half brother, Christian Geise of Bennington, and a sister, Mrs. Joseph Glor of Allegany.
         Funeral services for Mr. Geise will be held at 9:30 o'clock on Tuesday morning at St. Vincent's church and the burial will take place in St. Vincent's cemetery. The Rev. Michael Moynihan, D.D., D.C.L., will officiate.

  • The following appeared on 22 May 1930 in The Wyoming County Times: (Attica) The funeral service for Mrs. Catherine Sierk Geise took place Monday morning at St. Vincent's church where the Rev. Bernard Gill officiated at the solemn requiem mass. Mrs. Geise died Thursday noon following a severe stroke of appoplexy a week ago. She was survived by her daugher Miss Catherine Geise, who kept house for her mother, four sons, William, Henry, Leo of Attica, and George of Benington with two other sisters, Mrs. Samuel Bey and Mrs. George Geitner. Mrs. Geise was born March 12, 1852, the daughter of Henry and Magdalene Sierk and besides her children she is survived by three brothers, Henry, Marcus and Fred and four sisters Mrs. John Schlenker, Mrs. Anna VanValkenberg, Mrs. Charles Johnson and Mrs. Charles Ripstein. Mrs. Geise was the widow of the late Anthony Geise. Burial was made at St. Vincent's cemetery.
