Wood started this morning at 4 oclock to Houston to meet his wife," and on Tuesday, the 16th, "Sent this morning the carriage & Little waggon for Willis & Family to Montgomery, they got home this evening."
  • Willis Breazeal Wood and Sarah Anne Harris appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Montgomery County, Texas, living next door to Green Wood.. Other members of the household included Eliza Stocks Wood, Charles Harris Wood and Willis Eason Wood.

  • Sarah Anne Harris became a widow at the 15 December 1854 death of her husband Willis Breazeal Wood.
  • Evelina Wood wrote on 14 May 1855, to her daughter Lizzie Powell, undergoing treatment for cancer in Murfreesboro, Tennessee: ". . . I have had but two letters from Sallie since she left -- she has written to Billie twice on business and once for money -- I shall continue to write to her --with a view of hearing from the children often -- and try to keep up a feeling of affection in her for the family -- Sallie feels near to me, she was the wife of a beloved son, as such I am bound to love her. . . ." Received a letter today from Sallie Wood. she appears to be enjoying herself very much, she went to the fair at the ridge and speaks of attending Martha Pickett's wedding -- she wrote to me to sell her wardrobe if I could, and wanted her guitar sent to her. . . ."

  • On Wednesday, 11 September 1859, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Green & Willis and their wives went to the Thicket this morning."
  • On Sunday, 22 January 1860, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: ""Mrs. Willis Wood arrived with two of children Harris and Powell from Alabama, has few? children with her and one a daughter in Alabama."
  • Green Wood recorded in his book of Misc. Financial & Slave Records, an accounting for expenses of LIzzie A. Wood on 5 May 1860, cash handed to S. A. Wood in Galveston ($100.00), cash paid for expenses of Lizzie A. Wood to Galveston to Mr. T. Oliver ($22.00).
  • Green Wood and Evelina Alexander Barnes appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1860 in Montgomery County, Texas, next to their son William Barnes Wood.. Other members of the household included Sarah Anne Harris, Campbell Wood, Ella Abercrombie Wood, Eliza Stocks Wood, Charles Harris Wood, Willis Eason Wood, Elizabeth Ames Wood and Powell Wood. Green Wood is listed in the 1860 Slave Schedule with 106 slaves (33 of whom were age 10 and younger, and 8 of whom were age 60 and older) and 23 slave houses, for an average of 4-5 persons per cabin.
  • She was listed in the 1860 Slave Schedule at Montgomery County, Texas, S. Al Wood is listed in the 1860 Slave Schedule with 29 slaves (12 of whom were age 10 and younger, and none over age 60) and 5 slave houses, for an average of 5-6 persons per cabin. Some of these slaves were hired out to Robert M. Powell.
  • On Thursday, 2 August 1860, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Sallie Wood and Eliza A. [and] Campbell Wood left for Kellum Springs, also Mr. A. W. Speight and Lady."
  • Sarah Anne Harris died on 28 October 1867 at age 39 in Montgomery County, Texas, at Greenwood plantation of yellow fever.
  • She was interred at the Green Wood family cemetery, Montgomery County, Texas.
