A native of Walker County, she had lived here all of her life. She was the daughter of Dr. John Fletcher Fisher and Mrs. Elizabeth Tinsley Fisher. Her husband, the late Mr. Gus B. Oliphint, was also a member of a pioneer family.
Until the last few years, Mrs. Oliphint had been an active worker in the First Methodist church, from which funeral services were conducted at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, March 13.
Officiating at the services were the Reverend Jester White, pastor and the Reverend Jack Sparling of Houston, a former pastor. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were James Thomason, Robert Wilson, Amos Gates, John Smither, J.C. Felder, Alston Jones, Cecil Murray and Wilbur Smither. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. W.A. Goodrich, Dr. T.C. Cole, Lewis Ball, Dr. C.M. Raby, and Will Oliphint.
