- He married Sarah Jane Marshall circa June 1838 in Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.
- The following appeared on 15 June 1838 in the Farmers' Cabinet: [Married] In Nashua, by Rev. A. P. Cleverly, Mr. Charles Ramsdell, of Milford, to Miss Sarah J. Marshall, of Nashua.
- Charles Ramsdell and Sarah Jane Marshall appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1840 in Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, and apparently a daughter who did not survive until the 1850 census.. Other (counted but unnamed) members of the household apparently included Augusta H. Ramsdell.
- Charles Ramsdell and Sarah Jane Marshall appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Lawrence, Essex County, Massachusetts. Other members of the household included Augusta H. Ramsdell, Charles H. Ramsdell, Henrietta Rebecca Ramsdell and Adeline French Ramsdell. Also in the household were twelve others who apparently were boarders.
- He was a trader, according to the 1850 census.
- The following appeared on July 1855 in the Spiritual Telegraph: Dr. Charles Ramsdell, Clairvoyant, Writing and Psychometric Medium, Nashua, New Hampshire, will give examinations of Disease and Prescriptions by having the name and location of the person sent to him. Also readings of character, by having the name in the handwriting of the individual. Price One Dollar Each.

- The following appeared on 22 August 1857 in the Lowell Daily Citizen & News: (City Items) Mr. Charles Ramsdell, a trance speaker, will speak at Welles Hall, to-morrow at 10 1-2 o'clock A. M., and 2 1-2 o'clock P. M. Seats free.

- The following appeared on 2 January 1858 in the Lowell Daily Citizen & News: (City Items) Charles Ramsdell, of Nashua, N. H., a trance speaker, will hold forth to-morrow, at Welles Hall, at the usual hours of church service.
- Charles "Ramsdale" paid taxes in Montgomery County, Texas, for 1859 on 640 acres in the J. M. Hamm headright. Beginning in 1867, his son C. H. Ramsdell paid taxes on that acreage.
- Charles Ramsdell and Sarah Jane Marshall appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1860 in Montgomery County, Texas. Other members of the household included Augusta H. Ramsdell, Charles H. Ramsdell, Henrietta Rebecca Ramsdell, Adeline French Ramsdell and Francis S. Curtis.
- He was a gentleman, according to the 1860 census.
- On Tuesday, 18 February 1862, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Doctor Ramsdell and Lady came this evening," and on the following day, "Doswell Menard Spiritually Examined by Doctor Ramsdell; very Satisfactory to his Mother."
- On Saturday, 22 February 1862, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Mr. J. McGar Spiritually examined by Doctor Ramsdell; satisfactory to Mr. McGar."
- On Friday, 15 August 1862, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Bob with a load of corn to Doctor Ramsdell's and to get Leather."
- On Monday, 15 September 1862, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Sent Bob to Doctor Ramsdell's," and on the 17th, "Bob returned from Doctor Ramsdell's."
- On Sunday, 19 October 1862, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Sent Bob to Doctor Ramsdell's for Leather," with Hampton to assist. The preceding week, on the 13th, he had "Sent Andrew to Mr. Mayfield to learn to make shoes."
- On Monday, 22 December 1862, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Sent Bob to Doctor Ramsdell with $260 to pay for Leather."
- Charles Ramsdell died on 22 December 1863 in Montgomery, Montgomery County, Texas.
- His wife Sarah Jane Marshall became a widow at his death.
- The following appeared on 18 January 1864 in the Houston Telegraph: Died, in Montgomery county, Texas, Dec. 22d. of hemorrhage of the bowels, Dr. Charles Ramsdell, aged 56 years, 7 months, 18 days. A kind husband, an affectionate father, a firm friend. . .
