- Austin M. Walker was born circa 1809 in Georgia.
- He married Ellen Emeline Mitchell, daughter of John Mitchell and Elizabeth Green Wood, on 23 May 1834 in Harris County, Georgia.
- The following appeared on 1 June 1834 in The Columbus Enquirer: Married - Harris Co. Ga. 23 May 1834 by Rev. Mr. Hand, Dr. A.M. Walker of Columbus to Miss Ellen E. Moughon, eldest dau of Major John Mitchell.
- Austin M. Walker became a widower at the 30 May 1837 death of his wife Ellen Emeline Mitchell.
- Austin M. Walker appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia.
- The following appeared on 19 February 1857 in The Columbus Enquierer: Valuable Negroes for Sale. Two splendid House servants, both good seamstresses, washers and ironers. Also a likely Boy, 16 years old, has worked at the harness making trade for two years, and is a good body servant. Enquire of Dr. A. M. Walker.

- The following appeared on 24 August 1877 in the Columbus Daily Enquirer: Dr. A. M. Walker, has just returned from his plantation in Southwest Georgia, and reports to the Macon Telegraph that the crops through that section are generally in a very bad condition. The corn crop especially has been cut short about one half by the terrible and protracted drought through which that section has passed. The doctor has been experimenting with a little rye to see ow it would yield in this portion of the State, and his crop, notwithstanding the low latitude, gave a yield of twenty-five bushels to the acre. This is regarded as a very extraordinary crop for this section and places on the list of Southern Georgia products another grain which may profitably and easily raised.
- The following appeared on 31 May 1878 in the Columbus Daily Enquirer-Sun: Dr. A. M. Walker, formerly of Columbus, is quite sick in Macon. And on 4 June: Death of Dr. A. M. Walker. This gentleman died last afternoon at five o'clock in Macon. His age was about 72 years. He has lived in or near Columbus nearly all his life, and for many years was a deacon in the Baptist church of Columbus. He was once a physician in fine practice. To the time of the emancipation of slaves, he was quite wealthy and died possessed of a competency. Two children survive him.
