  • The following appeared on 2 December 1913 in the Corsicana Daily Sun: Mrs. M. E. Whitten, aged seventy-five years, and who had been a resident of Navarro county for thirty years, died at the home of R. L. Fleming in the Eureka community Sunday and the remains were interred yesterday after in the Hopewell cemetery.

  • William Weston Davis died on 25 March 1937 at age 73 in Denton, Denton County, Texas, at 214 East Prairie at his residence. . His death was officially witnessed by Jarrell Weston Davis.
  • His wife Lou Anna Ward became a widow at his death.
  • The following appeared on 25 March 1937 in the Denton Record-Chronicle: William Weston Davis, 73, died at his home, 214 East Prairie Street, at 2:10 p. m. Thursday. He is survived by his wife and three sons, Whitten, Jarrell and Albert, all at home. Funeral plans are not complete.
  • He was interred at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Denton, Denton County, Texas.
  • The following appeared on 26 March 1937 in the Denton Record-Chronicle: Funeral services for W. W. Davis, who died thursday afternoon, will be held Saturday at 10 a. m. in the Central Presbyterian Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. L. P. Parker. Burial will be in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
         Pallbearers will be Ross McCormick, Charles Williams, George Crubaugh, A. L. Lancaster, Dewey Burns and W. M. Smith.
         Davis was born in Newton, Miss., but came to Texas at an early age, having settled in Corsicana 53 years ago and having lived in Denton 27 years. He was a painter but retired in 1930.
         Surviving are his wife, three sons, W. W. Davis Jr. of Alexandria, La., J. W. Davis and Albert Davis and two half sisters, Mrs. R. D. Fleming and Mrs. Nannie Driver of Corsicana.
  • The following appeared on 29 March 1937 in the Denton Record-Chronicle: Funeral services for W. W. Davis, who died Thursday, were held Saturday in the Central Presbyterian Church, conducted by th epastor, Rev. L. P. Parker. He read "Crossing the Bar" as part of the service, and a chorus composed of A. S. Keith, V. C. Craig, Dixie Boyd, Mrs. L. P. Parker and Mrs. Margie Stafford sang "The Old rugged Cross," "Have Thine Way, Lord" and "Rock of Ages." Burial was in the I. O. O. F. cemetery, with a large floral offiering.
         Besides a number of local and county friends and relatives those here from out of town included W. W. Davis Jr. and Miss Nell Rexer of Alexandria, La., Mrs. Charlene Smith Wynn of Houston, Mrs. Boozer of Childress and Mr. and Mrs. Will Smith of Frisco.
