- Edward Francis Devine was born on 10 January 1897 in New York.
- He married Frances Loranette Tinker, daughter of Henry Augustine Tinker and Loranette E. Cushman, on 19 August 1931 in Norwich, Chenango County, New York, with Rev. Edward F. Doyle officiating.
- The following appeared on 20 August 1931 in the Utica Daily Press: (Norwich, Aug. 19) Two popular Norwich young people were united in marriage at St. Paul's rectory at 8:54 this morning, when Miss Frances L. Tinker became the wife of Edward F. Devine, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Devine of Sheldon Street. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Edward F. Doyle of Syracuse, cousin of the groom.
The attendants were Mrs. Evelyn Bourne of Binghamton and Howard Tinker of Oswebo, brother of the bride. [:CR;] Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served the bridal party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Ferris of 59 Pleasant Street. Mr. and Mrs. Devine later left for ?Nevin Sutin? Upon return to Norwich they will take up their residence in their newly furnished apartment at 51 Front Street. - The following appeared on 20 October 1932 in the Utica Daily Press: (Norwich, Oct. 19) Following a two year period of failing health, the death of Martin Devine, prominent business man of this city occurred at his home, 19 Sheldon Street, at an early hour Wednesday morning.
A lifelong resident of Norwich, he was born here March 19, 1867, the son of the late Patrick and Mary Byrne Devine.
From the point of service Mr. Devine was one of the oldest business men of Norwich. For more than a half a centure, 52 years, he has been engaged as a cigar manufacturer and for the past 38 years he has operated his own factory here. He held membership in the Cigar Makers' Union for 47 years.
Funeral services will be held from St. Paul's Church, 9:30 Friday morning. Besides his widow he leaves three sons, Edward F., and John R., Norwich, and Charles B., Brooklyn. - Edward Francis Devine and Frances Loranette Tinker appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1940 in Norwich, Chenango County, New York, at 12 Terrace Street.
- He was employed as an electrician by a retail electric store, according to the 1940 census.
- The following appeared on circa 29 September 1954 in The Chenango Union: Miss Constance Devine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Devine, 12 Terrace Street, is a member of the Freshman class at Greene Mountain Junior College, in Poultney, Vermont.
- Edward Francis Devine died on 24 March 1974 at age 77.
- His wife Frances Loranette Tinker became a widow at his death.
- He was interred at Southside Cemetery, Plymouth, Chenango County, New York.
