- Mabel Lucile Nelson was born circa 1904 in Utah.
- She married Charles Melton Pegues, son of Edward Charles Pegues and Mary Lena Magee, on 25 June 1931 in Salt Lake County, Utah.
- The following appeared on 5 July 1931 in The Salt Lake Tribune: Mrs. Emma Nelson of Murray announces the marriage of her daughter, Mabel, to Charles Melton Pegues of Urbana, Ill. The wedding took place Thursday evening, June 25, at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. J. Lester Ronneburg.
The ceremony was performed at 6:30 p. m. by the Rev. Elmer I. Goshen. The bride wore a dainty frock of blue organdy and carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds and lilies of the valley. She was attended by her sister, Mrs. Ronneburg. James Mather of Paris, Ill., was the best man. A wedding dinner followed the ceremony.
The groom attended the University of Texas and Illinois and in June received the degree of doctor of philosophy at the latter institution. He is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha social fraternity and Sigma Delta Pi and Pi Delta Pi, honorary fraternities.
After September 1 the young couple will make their home in Forsyth, Ga. - Charles Melton Pegues and Mabel Lucile Nelson appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1940 in Lee Addition, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. Other members of the household included Nancy Florence Pegues. In 1935 they were living in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
