- Frances Buchanan was born circa 1906 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.
- Ella R. Keithley appeared in the US federal census of 15 April 1910 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, at 718 Pine Street. Other members of the household included Frances Buchanan, Evelyn Buchanan and Carl Percival Buchanan. George Buchanan was not enumerated with his family in San Antonio in 1910, and has yet to be found. Son Percy also was enumerated with his grandparents in Saline County, Missouri.

Mrs. Piatt expects to leave next week for a fortnight's visit in La Jolla, Cal., as the guest of her uncle, George E. Keithley. - Frances Buchanan became a widow at the 18 February 1948 death of her husband William McCoy Piatt Jr.
- The following appeared on 19 February 1948 in the El Paso Herald-Post: Funeral services for William McCoy Piatt of 4725 Trowbridge street, who died yesterday, will be held at 10 a. m. tomorrow in St. Joseph's Church with the Rev. Henry Buchanan officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen.
Rosary services will be at 8 p. m. today in Hagedon-Harding Chapel with the Rev. Joseph M. Walsh officiating.
Mr. Piatt had been ill for one year. He had lived in El Paso since 1912, coming here from Park Ridge, Ill.
He was sales manager for Heid Brothers. He served on the Sun Carnival board of directors, was a member of the Knife and Fork Club, a member of El Paso Council No. 638 Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph's Church.
Surviving him are his widow; two daughters, Frances Jane and Keithley Spaulding; his mother, Mrs. Rose Walker Piatt of Wichita, Kan; four brothers, E. Donn Piatt of Shreveport, La., Robert Piatt of Long Beach, Cal., Tec Piatt of Pomona and Joe Piatt of Saudi, Arabia.
Mrs. Piatt's brothers are Bernard Buchanan, district attorney of Del Rio; Rev. Henry Buchanan, pastor of Our Lady of the Valley Church in the Lower Valley; and Percy Buchanan of Los Alamos, N. M. - She married James Tillman Guynes.

She was born in San Antonio, Texas, and had been a resident of E1 Paso, Texas, for 80 years. Her mother was Ella Keithley Buchanan, and her grandmother was Jane Vawter Keithley. She was the widow of William McCoy Piatt and James Fillman Guynes.
Frances had been editor for the monthly E1 Paso Garden Club newsletter, was a charter and life member of the E1 Paso County Historical Society, and had been active in many other organizations and civic groups.
Surviving are two daughters, Jane Piatt Emmett of Rancho Mirage, California, and Keithley Piatt Wagner of San Antonio; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the VVV Association, and had attended several reunions.
