• George W. Buchanan and Ella R. Keithley appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1900 in Val Verde County, Texas. Other members of the household included Carl Percival Buchanan, Evelyn Buchanan.
• Jacob Carter Keithley and Jane Neave Vawter appeared in the US federal census of 15 April 1910 in Elmwood Township, Saline County, Missouri. Other members of the household included Carl Percival Buchanan, Irving W. Keithley. Grandson Percy Buchanan also was enumerated with his mother in San Antonio.
• Ella R. Keithley appeared in the US federal census of 15 April 1910 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, at 718 Pine Street. Other members of the household included Carl Percival Buchanan, Evelyn Buchanan and Frances Buchanan. George Buchanan was not enumerated with his family in San Antonio in 1910, and has yet to be found. Son Percy also was enumerated with his grandparents in Saline County, Missouri.

• He married Rena Lee Williamson, daughter of Delbert E. Williamson and Bertha Ella (?), circa 1925.
• He officially witnessed the death of George W. Buchanan on 13 January 1930 at 3209 Clifton in El Paso, Texas; at his residence.
• Carl Percival Buchanan and Rena Lee Williamson appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1930 in El Paso, Texas, at 3902 Clifton. Other members of the household included Ella R. Keithley.
• He was employed as a mechanic by a motor company, according to the 1930 census.
• Carl Percival Buchanan and Rena Lee Williamson appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1940 in El Paso, Texas, at 3902 Clifton. Other members of the household included Ella R. Keithley. All three reported living in the same house in 1935.
• He was employed as a foreman by an auto retail shop, according to the 1940 census.

• Carl Percival Buchanan died on 11 April 1966 at age 67 in El Paso, Texas, at William Beaumont General Hospital . His death was officially witnessed by Rena Lee Williamson.

• The following appeared on 13 April 1966 in the El Paso Herald-Post: Funeral services for Carl P. Buchanan, 2915 Federal avenue, who died Monday, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Harding, Orr and McDaniel Montana Avenue Chapel. Burial will be in National Cemetery.
       Mr. Buchanan was 67. A long-time El Paso resident, he moved to Los Alamos as a supervisor for the Zia Corporation for 18 years, until his retirement when he returned here. He awa a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, and a veteran of World War I.
       Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Rena Lee Buchanan; a sister, Mrs. J. T. Guynes; and two nieces, Mrs. G. T. Emmett Jr. and Mrs. William James Morgan, all of El Paso.
