• Lela Bell Sandefur was born in October 1895 in Texas.
• Patrick Washington Sandefur and Lela Francis Pegues appeared in the US federal census of 15 April 1910 in Longview, Gregg County, Texas. Other members of the household included Lela Bell Sandefur, Lula M. Sandefur, Chaytor Orton Sandefur, Gussie Sandefur, Patrick J. Sandefur, Mollie Marshall Sandefur and Mary Louise Sandefur.
• She married Joel Dixon Mitchell circa 1914.
• Joel Dixon Mitchell registered for the draft on 5 June 1917 in Hopkins County, Texas, while living with his wife in Sulphur Springs, self-employed there as proprietor of S. S. Bottling Works.
• Lela Bell Sandefur became a widow at the 10 March 1958 death of her husband Joel Dixon Mitchell.
• The following appeared on 11 March 1958 in the Greenville Herald Banner: Funeral services for J. Dixon Mitchell, Kansas City, Missouri, will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Longview, Texas.
       Mr. Mitchell, a brother of Mrs. Marvin Love and an uncle of Raymond Gray, Greenville, died Monday morning in Kansas City.
       Burial will be in Longview with nephews acting as pallbearers.
       Born and reared in Greenville, Mr. Mitchell was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. P. Mitchell. He attended Greenville schools and Texas A. & M. College and for the past 30 years had been a resident of Kansas City where he had served as superintendent of the Coca-Cola Bottling plant.
       He was married to the former Lela Sandifur of Longview.
       Survivors include his widow; one son, J. Dixon Mitchell Jr., Atlanta, Ga; his sister, Mrs. Love; his nephew, Raymond Gray of Greenville and other relatives.
