A native of Fayetteville, Ark., he moved to Texas with his parents as a boy and was educated in Longview schools.
Sandefur married the former Miss Tommie Barnes, a Dallas singer, in 1912.
He retired from the T&P in 1952, and became a member of the Forty Club, in which he served actively until his death.
He was a charter member of the East Dallas Masonic Lodge, and a life member of Hella Temple Shrine.
A popular sportsman, he maintained a fishing lodge at Possum Kingdom and Lake Whitney. He was serving as game warden for Dallas County at the time of his death.
Besides his wife he is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Lela Mitchell of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. E. J. Kennedy and Mrs. Lawrence Channey, both of Longview and Mrs. A. B. Busbey and Mrs. A. C. Numsen, both of Dallas.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Craig Chapel of Gaston Avenue Baptist Church, 4024 Gaston, with Dr. Harold Basden and the Rev. James E. Bailey, officiating. Masonic graveside services will be conducted in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be M. R. Voorhies, Dr. Frank Kelley, Frances Mauk, Paul Tarkington, A. A. Kelly, and S. R. Bourgeois.
