• Mary Jane Pegues was born on 13 December 1846 in South Carolina.
• Thomas William Pegues and Sarah Jane Roberts appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Kershaw District, South Carolina, and also four other printers, aged 20-28.. Other members of the household included Mary Jane Pegues, Thomas Godfrey Pegues, Eliza Grady Pegues, Sarah Amelia Pegues, Richard Hicks Pegues, Claudius James Pegues, Nannie G. Pegues and Sarah (?)
• Thomas William Pegues and Louisa S. Bronson appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1860 in Camden, Kershaw County, South Carolina, and also bookkeeper H. W. Dixon. Richard Pegues was the enumerator for his area.. Other members of the household included Mary Jane Pegues, Eliza Grady Pegues, Richard Hicks Pegues, Claudius James Pegues, Nannie G. Pegues, William Covington Pegues and Sarah (?)
• She married Silas B. Turner on 27 January 1867.
• Mary Jane Pegues died on 22 December 1918 at age 72 in Camden, Kershaw County, South Carolina, at her residence.
• Her husband Silas B. Turner became a widower at her death.
• She was interred at Quaker Cemetery, Camden, Kershaw County, South Carolina.
• The following appeared on 29 December 1918 in The Sunday News: (Camden, Dec. 28) After a long illness Mrs. Mary Pegues Turner died at her home in this city Sunday. She was seventy-one years of age and is survived by her husband, Mr. S. B. Turner, and one daughter, Miss Mame Turner, of this city. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Pegues, for many years editor of the old Camden Journal. The funeral was held at the Methodist Church Monday afternoon, services being conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. W. Daniel, and the burial was in the Camden Cemetery.
