- The following appeared on 29 December 1918 in The Sunday News: (Camden, Dec. 28) After a long illness Mrs. Mary Pegues Turner died at her home in this city Sunday. She was seventy-one years of age and is survived by her husband, Mr. S. B. Turner, and one daughter, Miss Mame Turner, of this city. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Pegues, for many years editor of the old Camden Journal. The funeral was held at the Methodist Church Monday afternoon, services being conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. W. Daniel, and the burial was in the Camden Cemetery.
