- He married Edwina Malinda Booth, daughter of John W. Booth, on 18 December 1769 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
- According to researcher Robert Whitehead, "Anderson Comer was Justice of the Peace, Greene County, Georgia. 1790; Commissioner, Greene County Academy, 1792; Justice of the Inferior Court, Hancock County, 1799; and together with his friend, Major Charles Abercrombie, deeded the land for the Hancock county courthouse in Sparta in 1795."
- Charles Abercrombie became a widower at the September 1804 death of his wife Edwina Malinda Booth.
- Charles Abercrombie died on 23 August 1821 at age 79 in Hancock County, Georgia.
- The following appeared on 18 September 1821 in the Georgia Journal: [Died] In Hancock county, on the 23 ult - Major Charles Abercrombie, in the 77th year of his age. The deceased was a valuable officer of the revolutionary army, and has since been honored with various appointments from the hands of his fellow citizens. His eulogium is written in the hearts of those who knew him intimately.
