- The following appeared on 11 September 1953 in The Sheboygan Press: Funeral services for Oscar Simonsmeier, 61, who died early Thursday at his farm home in the Town of Rhine, will be held at the Wittkopp Funeral Home in Plymouth. The Rev. Paul Olm, pastor of the Elkhart Lake Community Church will officiate. Interment will be made in the family lot in Elkhart Lake cemetery.
A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Simonsmeier, he was born Feb. 25, 1892, in the Town of Herman, and was married to Miss Edna Blanke in Town Lyndon on Nov. 14, 1914. Since their marriage the couple operated a farm in the Town of Rhine. Mr. Simonsmeier was a member of the Community Church at Elkhart Lake.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Elmer and Allen, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Reinhold (Irene) Werner, Sheboygan, and Mrs. August (Leona) Fritz, Town Rhine; five grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. John Kuester of the Town of Meeme. A brother, Arthur, of the Town of Rhine, died last Tuesday.
