- The following appeared on 2 June 1969 in The Sheboygan Press: Mrs. Edna Simonsmeier, 74, of 1110 Wilson Ave., formerly of the town of Rhine, died Saturday at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for 10 days. She was born April 11, 1895, in the Town of Plymouth, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Blanke, and was married to Oscar Simonsmeier Nov 14, 1914, in the Town of Lyndon. The operated a farm in the Town of Rhine until her husband's death in 1953. She lived with a son-in-law and daughter in Sheboygan until entering Morningside Nursing Home, Plymouth, a year and a half ago. Mrs. Simonsmeier was a member of the Elkhart Lake community United Church of Christ and the Ladies Aid Society of the church.
Surviving are two sons, Elmer, Town of Lima, and Allen, Plymouth; two daughters, Mrs. Reinhold (Irene) Werner, Sheboygan, and Mrs. Leona Fritz, Sheboygan; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and two brothers, Gilbert Blanke, town of Lyndon, and Clarence, Plymouth. Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
