- On Monday, 13 September 1852, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Sent by Mr. Marsh for 1 sack Java Coffee, 500 lb Best bacon sides, 300 yd Baging & 3 coils of rope & 10 or 20 lb twine. Sent by Mr Wm Marsh's Waggon 6 Bales of cotton No. 31 to 36."
- On Wednesday, 23 March 1853, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "The Boats all started this morning and I met them at Marshes. Got down at sun set and left next morning early."

Marsh wrote to Green Wood on 16 July 1853: "Dear Sir, Pleas to pay S Shepherd for nine days work on your boat three Dollars & 50/100 on the Stage one Dollar on the Steam boat fifty cts for breakfast and fifty cts for dinner Makeing in all twenty three Dollars 50/100 and oblige your friend --W R Marsh." And noted below by Green Wood: "Received the above in July $23.50," signed S Shepperd.

- William R. Marsh and Hepzibah (?) appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1870 in Lynchburg PO, Harris County, Texas. Other members of the household included William M. Marsh and Robert Lee Marsh. It appears that Hepzibah's age is erroneously recorded as 17 instead of 47. Also in the household is Edward Roberts (age 12), apparently a son of daughter Nancy's husband by an earlier marriage.

Also in the household were three male farm laborers.
