• Edna Merle Hughes was born on 24 April 1878 in Fairfield, Freestone County, Texas.
• She married Robert Waller Cosnahan, son of Corbin Waller Cosnahan and Amaryllis Baldwin, on 17 June 1901 in Mexia, Limestone County, Texas, at the residence of the bride's parents.
• Robert Waller Cosnahan and Edna Merle Hughes appeared in the US federal census of 15 April 1910 in Mexia, Limestone County, Texas, at 620 Main Street. Other members of the household included Ruth Cosnahan, Julia Franklin Cosnahan, Corbin Waller Cosnahan, Frank Hughes Cosnahan and Patrick Freeman Cosnahan.
• The following appeared on 10 January 1921 in the Mexia Daily News: R. W. Cosnahan and wife returned to their home in Dallas Sunday afternoon. They were the guests of her father, Capt. Frank Hughes, while here.
• The following appeared on 15 June 1923 in the Mexia Daily News: Capt. Frank Hughes has returned from a few weeks spent in Dallas visiting the family of his daughter, Mrs. Waller Cosnahan.
• Edna Merle Hughes became a widow at the 6 March 1925 death of her husband Robert Waller Cosnahan.
• The following appeared on 30 April 1943 in the Dallas Morning News: Staff Sgt. Corbin Waller Cosnahan has been visiting his wife, the former Miss LaVerne Stephenson, 2413 Peabody, and mother, Mrs. R. W. Cosnahan, 1511 Lenway, en route to officer candidate school at Mississippi State College. He will train in the administrative transportation division.
• At the time of her death Edna Merle Hughes was living in University Park, Dallas County, Texas, at 4136 University Boulevard.
• Edna Merle Hughes died on 21 October 1974 at age 96 in Dallas, Texas, at Presbyterian Hospital . Her death was officially witnessed by Hamilton Munger Cosnahan.
• She was interred at Mexia Cemetery, Mexia, Limestone County, Texas.
• The following appeared on 22 October 1974 in the Dallas Morning News:
  [:TAB] Mrs. Edna M. Cosnahan, 97, of 4136 University Blvd., a Dallas resident for the past 58 years, died Monday in a Dallas hospital.
  [:TAB] Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. tuesday at the Welland -Merritt Funeral Chapel, 2909 Live Oak. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. in the Mexia Cemetery, Mexia, Limestone County. /P/ Mrs. Cosnahan is survived by two sons, two daughters, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
