- Thomas Cosnahan and Verlinda Ward appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Burke County, Georgia. Other members of the household included Sarah Verlinda Cosnahan, Henry Cosnahan, Thomas James Cosnahan, William J. Cosnahan, Nancy Cosnahan, Mary Lucy Cosnahan, Susannah Zipporah Cosnahan and MacDaniel Bartholomew Cosnahan. Also in the household were Martha (age 13) and Calvin (age 16) Ward.

- The following appeared on 28 November 1908 in The True Citizen: Died at her home near McBean on last Sunday morning, Mrs. Verlinda Smith, from the effects of a stroke of paralysis received several months ago. Aged about 68 years. She was a consistent member of the Baptist church for amny years and her remains were interred at McBean church, and was attended by a large number of friends. She is survived by three children, Mrs. Bates Miller, of McBean, Mr. Jas. D. Smith, of Augusta, and Mr. William H. Smith, of Waynesboro. She will be greatly missed in her community where she lived almost all her life, and the bereaved family have the sincerest sympathy of all in her loss.
