• The following appeared on 1 December 1895 in the Birmingham State Herald: (Montgomery, Nov. 30) Judge Thomas M. Arrington, for the past fifteen years judge of the city court here, died this morning at his residence in this city. There are already four applicants to succeed him.
       In 1863 Judge Arrington was elected judge of the city court and held the position until removed by the federal authorities under reconstruction laws in 1868. He was again chosen in 1875 and held the position uninterruptedly until a few weeks ago, when he resigned on account of ill health.
