- The following appeared on 30 October 1914 in The Montgomery Advertiser: Mrs. Mary R. Arrington died at the family residence, 203 Church Street, yesterday morning at 3 o'clock. Mrs. Arrington was one of Montgomery's best known women. She had been in failing health for some time, her death was not expected and the announcements comes as a shock to her many friends.
She was a daughter of the late United States Senator George Goldthwaite, who was also for a number of years a member of the Alabama Supreme Court. She was the widow of the late Judge Thomas M. Arrington, who served during the Civil War as lieutenant colonel of the Thirty-first Alabama Regiment.
Mrs. Arrington is survived by nine children. They are: S. L., T. M., A. H., Robert G. and Miss Olivia G. Arrington and Mrs. Lloyd Lyon of Montgomery; R. H. Arrington of Enterprise, Mrs. Archie Goldthwaite of Grenada, Miss., John Arrington of Port Arthur, Canada. There is also surviving one sister, Mrs. Ann G. Seibels, of Montgomery, and three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Robert Goldthwaite, Mrs. A. P. Tyson and Mrs. P. N. Tyson of Montgomery.
Mrs. Arrington was seventy-four years of age. She was a life long member ogf the St. John's Episcopal Church of this city.
Funeral services will take place this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the family residence, Rev. E. E. Cobbs officiating.
Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
