Richard Lee Shipley was born and reared in the Raymore Community in Cass County, Mo. He was the 10th child of Marion H. and Athelia E. Shipley. Richard Shipley has been a Fort Worth resident since August of 1935. A veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Polytechnic United Methodist Church and a former member of Fort Worth Gem and Mineral Club, practicing the lapidary hobby for many years. Richard Shipley was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Getrude Dorinda in December 1993 and son, Christopher Michael in August 1953. Survivors: Brother, Raymond Shipley of Ardmore, Okla; sisters, Lena Foster of Melbourne, Fla. and Winnefred Shore of Owasso, Okla; and many nieces and nephews.
