Marvin Shelby Burke was born on 23 April 1922 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, at P&S Hospital.
He was known as Shelby.
He married Alpha Earl Swink, daughter of Earl Lacy Swink and Nellie Lucindy Ward, on 5 June 1948 in Alpine, Brewster County, Texas.
Marvin Shelby Burke became a widower at the 22 February 2000 death of his wife Alpha Earl Swink.
Marvin Shelby Burke died on 10 July 2006 at age 84 in Odessa, Ector County, Texas, at his residence.
He was interred at Elm Grove Cemetery, Alpine, Brewster County, Texas.

     He was a retired Insurance salesman and had worked for American National Life Insurance Co. for thirty years. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He married Alpha Earl Swink June 5, 1948 in Alpine. She preceded him in death in 2000. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
     He is survived by his son, Charles Mills & wife Debra of Paint Rock, (2) grandchildren and (3) great-grandchildren.
     Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with Rev. Nora Fitch officiating. Graveside service will be 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Alpine with Rev. Jo Beth McLeod officiating.
