While they are identified as widow Mary ?Mimis? and son Ben Casting, there is little doubt that they are Mary and Ben "Caskie," although her other younger children have not yet been found in the 1900 census.

  • The following appeared in a Houston newspaper: Mrs. Mary Caskie, 61, died at her home at 409 Beaver street at 4 a. m. Tuesday.
         She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mattie Karonkie, and four sons, Joe Caskie of Gorman, Texas, S. Caskie of Marlin, Texas, and Steve and Ben Caskie of Houston, and 28 grandchildren.
         Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph’s church at 9 a. m. Thursday. Rev. Father Thomas B. Banfield will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery under the direction of the Wall & Stabe Undertaking company.
