• John Robert Brodnax and Mary Agnes Harper appeared in the US federal census of 15 April 1910 in Cotile, Rapides Parish, Louisiana, enumerated next to Mollie's brother Elmer Harper (age 47).. Other members of the household included Jesse Lane Brodnax, Eugene Godfrey Brodnax and Herbberd Otto Brodnax.

• The following appeared on 1 September 1936 in The Alexandria Town Talk: [Died] On Saturday, August 29, 1936, at 2:30 a. m. at the home of his daughter in Brookland, Tex., John R. Brodnax aged 89 year. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. P. C. Hychembottom, Winnfield, La; Mrs. B. T. Sompayrac, Alexandria, La; Mrs. W. L. Cooper, Brookland, Tex; five sons, Eugene and Herbert of Alexandria, La; Grover, Hodge, La; Lane, Elmer, La; and Grady, Shreveport, La; two brothers, Paul, Hemphill, Tex; Whittier, Uvalde, Tex; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Porter, Mansfield, La; and Mrs. Hess Peace, Uvalde, Tex.
       Funeral services were held Sunday morning, Aug. 30, at Henderson's cemetery, Boyce, La.
• Jesse Lane Brodnax died on 12 July 1967 at age 84 in Elmer, Rapides Parish, Louisiana.
• He was interred at Saint Peter Cemetery, Elmer, Rapides Parish, Louisiana.
• The following appeared on 13 July 1967 in The Alexandria Town Talk: Jesse Lane Brodnax, 84, died Wednesday at his residence in Elmer.
       Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic church. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery in Elmer under direction of First National Funeral Home, Alexandria. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today.
       He is survived by one daughter, mrs. G. B. Shirley of Minden; four sons, W. E. Brodnax of Alexandria, Leon L. Brodnax and Johnny t. Brodnax, both of Elmer, and Melvin H. Brodnax of Chaulavisto, Calif; one sister, Mrs. Florence Higginbotham of Winnfield; two brothers, Herbert Brodnax of Boyce and Grover Brodnax of Ruston, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
       Pallbearers will be Jerry Brodnax, Martin Brodnax, Huey Brodnax, E. R. Lawrence, Lewis Bonnette and Wilson Tolbert.
