- Clifton Quinn was born on 6 August 1891 in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina.
- Clifton Quinn registered for the draft on 5 June 1917 in Rowan County, North Carolina, while single, home address 205 West Innes Street in Salisbury, employed as a munition worker by E. I. duPont & Co. in Carney's Point, New Jersey. Military service: five years in the US Navy as a yeoman 2nd class.
- He married Ella Lee Pegues, daughter of William Wesley Pegues and Ella Lee Pegues, on 26 February 1926 in Prescott, Yavapai County, Arizona.
- The following appeared on 24 April 1927 in The Charlotte Observer: (Salisbury, April 23) A marriage of much interest was that of Miss Nell Pegues, of Arizona, and Clifton Quinn, of Salisbury, which too place recently. The following announcement has been received:
“Mr. and Mrs. Bob Gage Murphy announce the marriage of their sister, Miss Nell Pegues, to Clifton Quinn, on Saturday, February 26, at Prescott, Arizona.”
Mr. Quinn is the younger son of M. C. Quinn and the late Mrs. Quinn, of Sallisbury, and a brother of Mrs. A. N. Gething. For some months he has made his home in Prescott, Ariz., where he and Mrs. Quinn will continue to live. He is prominently connected throughout North Carolina, where his marriage will be learned with greatest interest. - Clifton Quinn (and Ella Lee Pegues) appeared in the 1929 Prescott, Arizona, City Directory at 309 East Union listed as Clifton Quinn (Nell), ex-serviceman..

- The following appeared on 6 February 1950 in the Tucson Daily Citizen: Clifton Quinn, 2618 Hedrick dr., is top man in Tuycson stamp-collecting circles today after sweeping both the chief honors for exhibits out of the hands of other collectors at the annual Tucson stamp club show this week-end. Quinn received the grand award and the J. Irving Wolfe silver medallion for his display of early United States cancellations. The exhibit also captured first place in the U.S. stamps division of the show.
