- The following appeared on 22 September 1936 in The Abilene Daily Reporter: (Eastland, Sept.22) Funeral services for Oliver Thomas Pegues, veteran of the Spanish-American and World wars, were held here Monday afternoon. Pegues, 62, died Saturday at a hospital in Legion, Texas.
The veteran also saw service as a member of the Mexican border patrol.
He had married twice, His first wife, Mrs. Floyd Mahen, Jr., and daughter, Charlotte, live at fort Worth. His second wife and a son, Philip Thomas Pegues, live here.
Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. J. L. Stedman of San Antonio and Mrs. J. D. Holt of Cotula, Texas; and three brothers, Mack Pegues of Fort Worth, Terry Pegues of Luna, N. M., and John a. Pegues of San Antonio.
