  • The following appeared on 28 October 1944 in the Lubbock Morning Avalanche: (San Antonio, Oct. 27) Four fliers from Randolph Field were killed yesterday afternoon when their training plane crashed two miles northeast of Zorn, Tex., it was announced today by Col. Walter C. White, Randolph Field commanding officer.
         The twin engined plane was on a combat training flight, Col. White said. The dead are:
         First Lt. Alvin C. Lawrence, instructor, Baltimore, Mr; 2nd Lt. Robert P. Rhyne, student in the Central Instructors school of Morgantown, N. C.
         Flight Officer Henry L. Thompson, student, whose wife lives in New Orleans.
         The name of the fourth man was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

         Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral, which will take place Monday, October 30, 1944, at 10 o'clock a.m. in Iota, La.
