  • She was interred at Forest Meadows Memorial Park East (formerly Hillcrest Memorial Park), Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida.
  • The following appeared on 27 May 1960 in The Patoka Register: The funeral of Mrs. Ida J. Pegues, 94, who died Thursday, May 19, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Pope, Gainesville, Fla., was held at the Williams-Thomas Chapel there Saturday afternoon. The Rev. Thaxton Springfield, pastor of the University Methodist Church, of which she was a member, officiated. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
          Mrs. Pegues, a native of Mississippi, had lived in Gainesville three years. Educated at Blue Mountain College, Blue Mountain, Miss., she taught until her marriage in 1892 to Malachi C. Pegues of Oxford, Miss. She was active in educational, civic and church organizations in her native state.
         Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. J. F. Matchett, Patoka, Ill., and Mrs. Pope of Gainesville; one son, M. C. Pegues, Denver, Colo., two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. One son, A. H. Pegues of Dallas, Texas, preceded her in death.
