Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 21, in the Noble Methodist Church, with burial following in the Noble Cemetery, under the direction of the Drewett Funeral Home of Mansfield. Mrs. Edwards is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Cates; one son, Winston B. Edwards; three sisters, Zell Cates, Grady Ashby and Helen Miles of Pleasant Hill; four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

         Mrs. Cates died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at a local hospital. She was born May 22, 1926, at Converse, Louisiana, to Luther Guy and Adina Maude Latham Edwards. She graduated from high school in Noble, Louisiana. She attended business school in Missouri and licensed practical nursing school at Byng.
         She married Raleigh Coleman Cates June 27, 1949. He preceded her in death October 12, 2001, in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Cates was a licensed practical nurse at Valley View Regional Hospital from 1977 until 1999. She had previously been a legal secretary for Kerr, Con and Mayhue Law Firm. Mrs. Cates was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Zwolle, Louisiana.
         Survivors include a daughter, Susan Osborn of Denver, Colorado; two grandchildren, Laura Marilyn Osborn and her husband Asbed Bedrossian of Glendale, California, and Mahate Sara Rose Osborn of Oakland, California; three great-grandchildren, Daron Bedrossian, Liliy Bedrossian and Rowan Osarelli; and special friends, Joyce Cook and Janice Rike.
         She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, L. G. Edwards and Winston Edwards.
