Mrs. Edwards is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Cates; one son, Winston B. Edwards; three sisters, Zell Cates, Grady Ashby and Helen Miles of Pleasant Hill; four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Mr. Edwards was born in Noble, and had lived in the Independence area for 41 years. He was a freight agent for the Kansas City Southern Railroad for 45 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Clubs, and a member of the Independence FM Amateur Radio Club. Survivors include his wife, Verna Edwards of Independence; a daughter, Jennifer Allee of Independence; and a sister, Marilyn Cates of Ada, Oklahoma. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents, Adina Latham Edwards, and L. B. Edwards Sr; and by his brother, L. B. Edwards Jr.
