- The following appeared on 4 February 1892 in The Dallas Morning News: (Navasota, Feb. 3) W. W. Wilkerson shot and killed Frank Lewis last Monday morning, near Bedias in the northern part of Grimes county. Wilkerson fired five shots at Lewis with a 45-caliber Colt's revolver, two of which took effect. The affair is reported to be the outcome of a disagreement about some stock. Wilkerson gave himself up.
