- John Paul Walke was born circa 1834 in Virginia.
- He was known as Jack.
- The following deed was dated 20 August 1866, Marengo County:
I, Felix G. Adams of Marengo Co., Ala., desirous of making some provision for my daughter, Harriett, wife of John P. Walke, who is in debt, give her $3000.00, free of control of her husband, and empower him to use same in a mercantile business in Uniontown or elsewhere.
Witnessed by L. A. Simms and J. H. Adams. - John P. Walke was listed as a sergeant with Company D, 4th Alabama Infantry Regiment (Capt. Clarke's Cane Brake Guards), CSA, when they left Uniontown, Alabama on 25 April 1861. He was surrendered with same at Appomattox on 8 April 1865.
- He married Harriet Elizabeth Adams, daughter of Felix Grundy Adams and Huldah Ann Shields, in 1865.
- John Paul Walke and Harriet Elizabeth Adams appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1880 in Sharkey County, Mississippi. Other members of the household included Thomas Felix Adams. Also in the household, identified as a boarder, was Roxy Duncan, age 6.
- He was a farmer, according to the 1880 census.
- John Paul Walke died in October 1881 in Mississippi.
- His wife Harriet Elizabeth Adams became a widow at his death.
- The estate of J. P. Walke, having died intestate, was probated in Sharkey County, Mississippi, with $500 surety bond given on 2 December 1881 by T. T. Orendorf, principal, John Harsh and T. J. Orendorf. Letters of Administration were granted to T. T. Orendorf on the same day.
