- Malachi Saunders was born circa 1747.
- He was known as Murphee for his step-father Malachi Murphee, and his childen were named Murphy.
- Malachi Murphy's will, dated 5 September 1773, was written in Prince Frederick Parish, Craven County, South Carolina. Named in the will as the children of his deceased wife Hannah: Moses Murfee, Malachi Sanders, Nathaniel and James Sanders, Mary Sanders, Massey/Mercy [Marcia], Mercy [Marcia] Pegues, daughter of William Pegues and Elizabeth [Saunders] his Wife deceased; and the Sons and Daughters of the Reverend Nicholas Bedgood and Mary [Saunders] his Wife.
- He married Sally Jane Knight on 11 August 1775.
- He married Mary Hicks, daughter of Col. George Hicks and Sarah James, on 14 July 1784 in Cheraw District, South Carolina.
- Malachi Saunders died circa 1790.
