  • The following appeared on 13 April 1851 in the Missouri Sunday Morning Republican: Rev. E. M. Knapp, pastor of the Universalist Church and late editor of the "Independent Universalist," at Terre Haute, died in that place on the 4th inst. His disease was pulmonary, but his death occurred sooner than appearance indicated, as he seemed in good health only a few days before. His remains were consigned to the grave with the honors of the Masonic fraternity and Sons of Temperance.

Horton, of Eden Corners, Erie county, N.Y; Jerusha Sanford, of Stephentown, Rensselaer county, N.Y; Esther Knapp, whose residence is unknown and cannot, upon diligent inquiry, be ascertained; the children and heirs at law of Henry C. Knapp, deceased, whose names and ages are unknown and cannot, upon diligent inquiry, be ascertained, and who reside with their mother Ann Eliza Knapp, at Hastings, Minnesota; the children and heirs at law of Ezekiel W. [sic] Knapp, deceased, whose names and ages are unknown and cannot, upon diligent inquiry, be ascertained, and who reside with their mother Luana Knapp, at or near Terre Haute, Indiana, who constitute the widow, heirs and next of kin of Ezekiel Knapp, late of Columbia county, deceased, send greeting:
         Whereas, William A. Knapp, who is named the sole executor in a certain instrument in writing, purporting to be the last will and testament of the said Ezekiel Knapp, deceased, and relating to real and personal estate, has applied for proof thereof, before our surrogate of our county of Columbia, you are therefore hereby cited and required personally to be and appear (if you see fit) before the said surrogate at his office in the city of Hudson, on the 17th day of April, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon of that day, then and there to attend the probate of said will.
         In testimony whereof, we have caused the seal of Office of our said surrogate to be hereunto affized. Witness, Charles Esseltyn, surrogate of our said county at [L. S.] the city of Hudson, N.Y., the 26th day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six. Chas. Esseltyn, Surrogate.
