- She married Eldred Simkins, son of Arthur Simkins and Margaret Mathews, on 7 April 1807 in Milford, Elbert County, Georgia.
- The following appeared on 18 April 1807 in the Augusta Chronicle: Eldred Simkins, Eldred, atty-at-law of Edgefield, S.C. & Smith, Miss Eliza, dau. Benajah Smith of Lincoln Co., Ga., m. 4/7/1807 by Rev. Francis Cummins.
- Elliza Hannah Smith became a widow at the 17 November 1831 death of her husband Eldred Simkins.
- Elliza Hannah Smith died on 1 January 1838 at age 46 in Edgefield District, South Carolina.
- The following appeared on 11 January 1838 in the Edgefield Advertiser: Eliza Hannah Simkins, widow of the late Col. Eldred Simkins, died on January 1, 1838, at Edgewood, the residence of the Honorable F. W. Pickens, in the forty-seventh year of her age. Mrs. Simkins for several years before her death was a member of the Baptist Church. She died of a pulmonary complaint.
- She was interred at Cedar Fields Cemetery, Edgefield County, South Carolina.
