John Milton Clark, 54, of 124 West Page, fell to his death Wednesday morning from the Magnolia Building, where he was employed as an accountant by the Magnolia Petroleum Company.
Clark's body crashed through a skylight into the alternation room of Stein's Stores Inc., 1506 Main. Jessie Johnson, a porter for the clothing store, found Clark at 8:45 a.m. Justice of the Peace Pierce McBride returned a verdict of suicide.
Homocide Detectives D. O. Climer and M. K. Tucker said Clark was seen in a restroom on the twenty-second floor of the Magnolia Building shortly after 8 a.m. His keys were found on the floor of the restroom. They were unable to find any eyewitnesses to his fall.
Clark is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin D. Fowlkes Jr., and Mrs. H. L. Harrington Jr., both of Dallas; two sisters, Miss Patsy Clark and Mrs. Margaret Douglas, both of Dallas; a brother, O. Hartsell Clark of Marshall, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Poole Funeral Home, 437 West Jefferson, with the Rev. Thomas Currie and the Rev. Thomas Gallaher, officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Land Cemetery.
