- The following appeared on 12 April 1859 in The Weekly Georgia Telegraph: Death of William Lockett, Esq. This estimable citizen died at his residence, in this city, on Saturday last. The funeral ceremonies were performed at the Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Dr. Hardenburgh officiating. His remains were escorted to the grave by thye Masonic fraternity-- the Bibb Cavalry, and a large concourse of friends and acquaintances.
- The following appeared on 28 October 1865 in The Macon Daily Telegraph: Will be sold to the highest bidder, on the 2nd Tuesday in December, 1865, for Cash, the Plantation belonging to the estate of William Lockett, dec'd, situated in Crawford county, and adjoining Ewell Webb, John Dent and others-- the place contains 1,500 acres, is well improved in all respects, with accommodations for 35 hands, and is one of the best plantations in the county, either for cotton or grain. Also, all the Mules, Horses, Hogs, Cattle, Crops of all kinds, together with Wagons, Carts and farming and other utensils of all kinds. The sale will take place on the premises, commencing at 10 o'clock, and will continue from day to day, untill all the property is sold. Terms Cash. Benj. G. Lockett, Ex'r of Wm. Lockett, Dec'd.
