O. Yelverton, a brother of the groom, who was his groomsman; Mrs. E. Hollis, who as Miss Irene Parks, of Troy, Alabama, attended Mrs. Yelverton as her maid of honor; Mrs. B. H. Abercrombie; and Mrs. Ed Bailey. /P/ The reception room, adjoining the hall, and decorated similarly, was very beautiful. Entertaining in the dining room were Mrs. D. H. Howe and Miss Lola Yelverton and assisting in serving were Mrs. J. G. Watson, Mrs. Will Paterson, Mrs. E. N. Whitlock, Mrs. Lamar Matkins, Mrs. Angus Morgan, Mrs. Wallace Vaughan, Mrs. J. B. Bayser, Jrs. J. O. Yelverton, Mrs. J. A. Abercrombie, and Mrs. L. D. Guy. Here a salad place was served to the guests. Palms lent their beauty. . . . /P/ In the lower reception hall was another table, presided over by Miss Marie Abercrombie, Miss Pauline Yelverton, Mrs. Ed Meadows and Mrs. James Hayes, who served. . . . /P/ In the library. . . . [the table] was presided over by Miss Alma Yelverton and Miss Vernon Ford. Entertaining in the library were Mrs. P. A. Goldsmith and Mrs. F. A. Nelson. /P/ The bride's register. . . . was presided over by Miss Evelyn Yelverton and Miss Carrie Lee Abercrombie. /P/ . . . . During the evening the Highland Avenue Baptist church quartette, composed of Hewlett Smith, Henry D. Dean, William Perdue and James Upchurch, gave a finished musical program. /P/ Walter H. Monroe, lyric tenor, entertained the guests with songs appropriate to the occasion. Passing mints and candies in green and white were Josephine Abercrombie, Annie Rebecca Ford and Thelma Abercrombie, all pretty little girls, who were in dresses of the summer. /P/ Mr. and Mrs. Yelverton were married thirty years ago at the Second Baptist church. Mrs. Yelverton was Elizabeth Frances Abercrombie, of Montgomery. The wedding occurred at six o'clock in the early morning and this celebration, after an intervention of thirty years, was as full of sentiment and happiness as the marriage itself. Mr. and Mrs. Yelverton received handsome gifts, many of them having touches of pearl in keeping with the signficance of the thirty years of married life. /P/ Hundreds of friends called during the evening to extend congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Yelverton and the occasion was a very happy one for all who participated.
