Nellie Harris

the Lubbock Morning Avalanche: During Alimony Trial. HOUSTON, Aug. 27. (UP) -- Whipping out an ice pick at the close of an alimony hearing, a negro woman stabbed her ex-husband today in the court of Judge Roy Campbell.
The ex-husband, Lucius Moses, 55, was stabbed in the chest after Judge Campbell fixed alimony payments at $10 a month.
Moses was admitted to a hospital. His former wife was taken into custody by police after Jusge Campbell sentenced her to three days in jail for contempt of court. - Nellie Harris was born in May 1882 in Willis, Montgomery County, Texas, or possibly 7 November.

Other members of the household included Nellie Harris, Huldy Harris, Charlotte Harris, James Smither Harris, John Harris, Lena Harris and Missie Harris. Also in the household were three grandchildren, based on their ages, presumably children of son Samuel since their surname is recorded as Harris.
- She married Lucious Moses, son of Henry Moses and Minnie Early.
- Lucious Moses registered for the draft on 5 June 1917 in Montgomery County, Texas, while living with his wife in Willis, and farming there on property rented from for S. C. Cavil.
- Lucious Moses and Nellie Harris appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1940 in Houston, Harris County, Texas, at 906 Sampson.
- She was self-employed as a laundress in her home, according to the 1940 census.
- At the time of her death, her usual residence was in Houston, Harris County, Texas, at 1819 Dan Street.
- Nellie Harris died on 6 June 1974 at age 92 in Houston, Harris County, Texas, at Blalock Nursing Home, 1409 Holland informant was Mrs. Nellie Hickey.
- She was interred at Paradise North Cemetery, Houston, Harris County, Texas.
