• Mother: Frankey b. circa 1818

• Gip was born circa 1854 in Texas.
• Following emancipation, Gip adopted the name Gip Wood.
• Edmond and Frankey appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1870 in Montgomery County, Texas, living next door to Hansel and Mary Baltrip.. Other members of the household included Gip, Bob, E. B. Edward and Sarah.
• He was a farm laborer, according to the 1870 census.
