Pegues, 67, member of a prominent Cheraw and Marlboro county family, died Sunday afternoon at her home here from a stroke of paralysis which she suffered Sunday morning. Before her marriage, she was Miss Ida Irby, daughter of William W. and Julia Mary Pegues Irby of Marlboro county where she was reared.
She is survived by her husband and four children, Misses Olivia, Ethel and Julia Pegues of Cheraw and Charlie Pegues of Raleigh; two brothers, Joe Irby of Cheraw and William Irby of Florida; and two sisters, Miss Julia and Rebecca Irby of Florida. The funeral arrangements have not been completed. - William Wright Irby Jr. and Lillian (?) appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1940 in Alachua, Alachua County, Florida. Other members of the household included William Wright Irby, Gertrude Irby and Rebecca Evans Irby.
- He was employed by a sawmill as a saw filer, according to the 1940 census.
