James Lawrence Greene

- James Lawrence Greene was born on 24 January 1814 in Jones County, Georgia.
- He married Sarah Ann Kendrick, daughter of Ephriam Jones Kendrick and Charity Clark, on 16 February 1837 in Putnam County, Georgia, with Rev. Myles Greene (James' granduncle) officiating.
- On Saturday, 22 April 1848, Green Wood recorded in his travel journal: "Left Mr. Barnes, 9 o'clock, traveled east on the road to Houston 15 miles to Mr. James Green's & to Samuel Devereaux. Pass through some fine Prarie & Post oak & hickery land, Sandy & lying well, saw some rich land & a fine place for Settlement in hickery Grove & the land of Mr. Green & Devrough well Timbered oak & hickory lying well & adjoining rich Black Prarie & haw thickets & well watered 50 miles above Houston City. . . ."

- On Saturday, 29 April 1865, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Sent James Green 138 lbs bacon, part of an order from Richards Commissioner this evening, 138 making 296 lbs."
- James Lawrence Greene died on 7 April 1867 at age 53 in Plantersville, Grimes County, Texas.
