• He married Evelyn Hopper Adams, daughter of Thomas Felix Adams and Mary Louise Hopper, on 31 May 1911 in Marengo County, Alabama.
• Samuel Burwell Fort registered for the draft on 5 June 1917 in Ensley, Jefferson County, Alabama, while living with his wife and two children at 2330 16th Avenue in Ensley, and working there as a construction engineer for Tennessee Coal, Iron & Railroad Company.

       Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Elmwood Cemetery, Angwin Mortuary Center directing.
       Mr. Fort, who lived at 2004 28th St. West, was born in Blount Springs and lived in Marion Junction before moving to Birmingham 47 years ago.
       He was a graduate of Auburn University, at 32nd-degree Mason, a member of Zamora Shrine Temple and an elder of Ensley Highland Presbyterian Church.
       Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Fort; and two sons, George A. Fort of Gary, Ind., and Sam B. Fort Jr. of Bessemer. The family suggests that any memorials be made in the form of contributions to a favorite charity.
