- She married James Hicks Pegues, son of William Pegues and Sarah Gardiner, on 24 December 1807 in Cheraw District, South Carolina, half second cousins; Sarah James Gardiner Hicks was the maternal grandmother of both Sarah and James, but their mothers had two different fathers.
