  • Allen Minor Wood and Elizabeth West appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1930 in Cisco, Eastland County, Texas, at 903 West 7th Street. Other members of the household included Allen West Wood.
  • George Alexander Swinebroad and Elizabeth West appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1940 in Lancaster, Garrard County, Kentucky. Other members of the household included Allen West Wood. Also in the household was George's daughter Mary M. Swinebroad (age 14). In 1935, Elizabeth and Allen were still living in Cisco.
  • The following appeared on 5 August 1951 in The Dallas Morning News: (Cisco, Aug. 4) Mr. and Mrs. C. R. West, active in civic and church work here for twenty-six years, will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary Monday.
         They were married Aug. 6, 1901, in Mayfield, Ky. Both are natives of Kentucky. They moved to Cleburne, Johnson County, in 1911, after residence in St. Louis, Mo., and Camden, Ark. In Cleburne West was in the mercantile and automobile business.
         In 1925 they moved to Cisco, where he established a department store. Since 1929 he has been in the insurance business.
         They are memberts of the First Christian Church.
         A son, Dick West of The Dallas News, lives in Dallas, and a daughter, mrs. George Swinebroad, in Lexington, Ky. Grandsons include Richard West and Elliott West, of Dallas, and Allen West Wood, diplomatic courier with the State Department in Washington.

  • The following appeared on 7 November 1957 in The Marietta Journal: A tour of the world through music was given by Allen West Wood, former diplomatic courier with the State Department, of Atlanta, at the November meeting of Marietta Music Club.
         Dr. and Mrs. George Fergus were hosts to the club at their home on Wood Valley Drive. Mrs. Charles Miner, president, welcomed the guests and members.
         Wood presented a program of records from various countries of the world and gave a running commentary. He began the "tour" with the Danish song, "Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen" and confessed that this was his favorite city. Next stop was made in Russia. . . .
         "Music is at its best when sung in its native language" commented Mr. Wood. "Music also preserves many wonderful memories and in my travels, I indeed found it to be the universal language."

  • The following appeared on 3 April 1958 in The Marietta Journal: (Atlanta) Georgia's Young Democrats need a president again.
         In line for the job is Miss Betty Paisley of Atlanta, who served as viec president under Allen West Wood of Atlanta. Wood resigned Wednesday for reasons of personal business.
         Wood stepped into the presidency several months ago when Garland Byrd resigned to begin his campaign for lieutenant governor.

  • The following appeared on 16 June 1975 in the Lexington Herald-Leader: Services will be conducted Wednesday for Allen West Wood, a stockbroker and former diplomatic courier. Mr. Wood, 50, of New York City, died Sunday.A native of Navasota, Texas, and a former Lancaster resident, Mr. Wood was the son of Mrs. Elizabeth West Swinebroad, 137 Tahoma Road.
