  • He married Nancy Wood, daughter of Solomon Wood and Elizabeth Eason, on 28 March 1813 in Laurens County, Georgia. They were first cousins, their mothers were sisters..
  • On 31 December 1816, Mark Red Wood signed the following will: State of Georgia, County of Jeferson.
         I, Mark Red Wood, of the County and State aforesaid, being of sound and disposing mind and memory but aware that it is appointed of all men to die, do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament, I commit my soul to Almighty God.
         I give to my wife, Rhoda Wood, the following property to wit: one negro girl, named Petty, about twelve years of age, one bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever.
         I give and bequeath to my beloved nephew, Red Agustus Mitchell, Five Hundred Dollars. I give and bequeath to my beloved nephew, Red Allen, Five Hundred Dollars and I wish my executors hereinafter named to pay the aforesaid sums to my two nephews, Red Agustus Mitchell and Red Allen.
         I will and bequeath all my property both real and personal, in possession or in action to my brothers, Green and John White Wood, and to my sisters, Nancy Allen, formerly Nancy Wood, and Polly Mitchell, formerly Polly Wood, and to Elizabeth Mitchell, formerly Elizabeth Wood, and to their heirs forever, share and share alike. It is also my wish that on the event of either of my brothers or sisters departing this life anterior to my death, that then and in that case the parts or portions allotted to them be given to their children and that in the division of my property, they or their guardian or guardians represent their deceased parrents and for him or them to receive their portions. Then I hereby appoint my beloved brother Green Wood, and my trusty friend, Eason Allen, my executors to carry into effect this my last will and testament.
         In testimony whereof I hereunto attach my name and affix my seal this the 31st day of December, 1816.

  • Eason Allen appeared in the US federal census of 7 August 1820 in Laurens County, Georgia, but the count does not match the family as it is known -- too many boys, and the sister mentioned in Amanda's obituary not accounted for.. Other (counted but unnamed) members of the household apparently included Red Allen, Byrd C. Allen, Lark B. Allen and Mary W. Breazeal.
  • Eason Allen posted Administrator's Bond and was issued Letters of Administration on 3 December 1821 for the estate of Elijah William Breazeal, deceased. [Identity of Elijah Breazeal has not yet been established -- possibly a brother of Henry Willis Breazeal.]
  • In the 1827 Georgia Land Lottery, Eason Allen of of Captain Spivy's District in Laurens County, 46th day's drawings on 28 April, Section 2 (Muscogee County) District 16 Lot 36. And on the 64th day's drawings on 19 May, Section 5, (Carroll County), District 8, Lot 199.
  • Eason Allen and Nancy Wood appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1840 in Captain Allen's District, Laurens County, Georgia, with one male aged 15-19 and one male aged 20-29, both unidentified.
  • On Sunday, 26 May 1850, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Wrote to Mrs Mary Mitchell, Eason Allen & Edward Williams."
  • Eason Allen and Nancy Wood appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Laurens County, Georgia. Other members of the household included Byrd C. Allen. Also in the household was carpenter John McDaniel, age 39.
  • He was a farmer, according to the 1850 census.
  • On Saturday, 7 September 1850, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Wrote Cummings Stewart & Co., E. Allen, Solon Mitchell & W. Breazeal about mistake in cloth."
  • On Thursday, 6 February 1851, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "By mail Thursday wrote to Bolling Hall, to receive $250, to be sent by E. Allen of Georgia. Wrote E. Allen to send the $250 he had for me to B. Hall."
